“We are all apprentices in a craft where no one ever becomes a master.”
—Ernest Hemingway

The alcoholic scent of freshly painted nails
Her soft, sweet voice as she sings under her breath
The way she smiles, eyes closed, and deeply inhales
She is my heroin. She is my crystal meth.

Curling her toes in the sand
She loves the shore, but not the sea
Too afraid to take that plunge
Too abashed to make that leap

She plants white roses
But they shrivel and turn black
She is all that I want
and she is all that I lack

A star so high in the sky
Her shine is there but hard to see
All she needs is an audience
All she really needs is me

This is a love poem, but not about just one person. Each stanza is actually about a different girl that I have been romantically connected to.
