Dawn Before the Darkest
I can see the sun shining
Through the layers of clouds, about to cry
I stand my ground
But how can you concentrate with dark clouds above you?
I know what you are,
You've got some nerve to think you're welcome here
I'd love to be wrong, but I know your secret:
It's always dawn before the darkest
I can't see the moon gleaming
Luna, come find me
How much more black
Before you come back?
I agonizingly know what's imminent
And I'm too weak to face it
Happiness has betrayed me again
What will happen after "and then"?
Please let me be wrong, I know your secret:
It's always dawn before the darkest
Come back to me and dwell in my grasp
You're like slippery soap that slides out of hands
I'll be lucky if you ever come back
And blow away all the faults stacked
I hope someday in my waking hour
Every rose garden becomes less sour
And when the puzzle of lines is finally drawn,
It will be darkest before the dawn.
