Disability
A world with no place
For a wounded little girl
It is as if I have no face
Maybe if the disability would fade…
My only safety is in my room
Where walls keep my greatest secrets
I live and write while the world is moving ZOOM
Maybe if the disability would fade…
I'm scared of the big, gloomy, dark world
Will it embrace me as me?
Or will the people be scared and watch me curl
Maybe if the disability would fade…
I have been told I am smart,
But that doesn't change the fact
That I'm different like a shattered piece of art
Maybe if the disability would fade…
A smiling face hides the pain,
Of maliciously, massively, mean kids
From over the years hiding in my brain
Maybe if the disability would fade…
As I have grown older,
I have learned to ignore
And to lose the chip on my shoulder
Maybe the disability has finally faded…
Or have I grown and matured to accept my difference?
