Runner's Legs
I wish I had a runner’s legs

 And not these wooden pegs
 That I have, awkward, stiff,
 Like a cliff
 Ready to tumble,
 Throw me into a jumble.
I wish I had legs like her
 That can make men purr
 As she walks by
 And makes me die.
 She is a runner,
 And like a stalking hunter
 She’s always poised to go
Or to put on a show
 For the boys
 When they make noise.
But I like who I am,
 The girl who puts jam
 On her scrambled eggs,
 So forget about the legs.
 I’ll take my own mind
 Over her legs, anytime.
