The RatCat
Warm breath on the window,
Tiny body next to mine,
Nightly prowling, a chorus of yowling,
Then that look to say I’m sorry.
Sharp claws into my leg,
The scars show, they’ll never heal,
And yet that meow,
When you curl up onto my chest.
Fish in the pond,
They’ll never forget,
The claw, the snatch,
One left of dead.
The silver mark there today,
You never fished their again.
Little RatCat, this is for you,
The Mischief, the mayhem,
The Laughter,
That’s you
