Youth
we, like the diamond fire, sear,
 tied, we struggle against chains,
 walled, we push as one.

we, like the forever wind, rage,
 passion melts into soul and,
with a spark of fury, explodes.

we, like the shimmering ocean, frighten,
young legs run and hearts do not grow weary,
fear forgotten on a windy beach.
we shrug off frowns and ignore
 shaking heads, spurred on
 through night, through day,
 blindly stumbling towards perfection.

we are, like the sun's breath, soft,
we are the white light that surges through
the prism and sparkles color into sad eyes.

 we, like you, fall,
 but we burn til death,
 and under soot,
 gold.
