A Cold Place
Field of ice lies in sharp bitter darkness
as your last gleans of warmth flow away with the brisk wind
a frozen expanse in all directions,
Trees devoid of life, vibrant greens torn away by frost and biter-sharp gusts
Others huddle next to you,
Yet their breath does not thaw your icy spirit,
Nor melt your brittle frozen fingertips.
This is a cold, brutal place.
