desperate
I’m desperate now to hear your voice
You never left me with a choice
I’m not the child you once knew
But as an adult, a woman, I’m still new
And I’m still learning how this all works
Please let me learn how to not be a jerk
I’ll do what I can without delay
But in the meantime please don’t say
That you don’t love me, or I’m in the wrong,
This isn’t, after all, a stupid love song
And I don’t want you to think that I don’t know
I’m just starting to realize, I need to grow
From the child you once knew, to the woman I will be,
The daughter you’ll love, forever you and me.
