Not Hers to Tell
She opened Jess’s diary
And read secrets that weren’t hers to tell
She thought that we were all sleeping
But she didn’t know that I lay awake, just thinking
The journal was tucked away, safely underneath the bed
Carefully hidden and covered away so secrets couldn’t be spread
She flipped through pages quietly so her “friends” she wouldn’t wake
She knew that she was trespassing but it was a chance she decided to take
I closed my eyes, disappointed that a friend was betraying someone’s trust
She thought she was being sneaky, but instead she earned my disgust
