Letter to my great-grandfather
I remember you
With your cane
Walking down the street,
Slowly,
Calmly.
I remember you,
Wearing your black hat,
Sitting at the table
With a basket
Full of green apples.
I remember you at lunch time,
Enjoying the cream,
With milk and pears,
Tasty and warm.
I remember you lying in your bed,
Nestled between
The thick pillow
And the warm sheets.
I remember you at that
Cold white bedroom,
With a hopeless look in your eyes.
I remember the day you left us,
the day we said goodbye to you and
all those nights with
tears rolling down my eyes.
You moved to another place
That is far away from us,
But you have been taking
Care of me during all that time.
You will always be in my heart,
I will never forget you.
