By the Light of a Candle
Tucked up in bed by a flicker of light,
That is the light of a single candle,
Never to be disturbed till dawn creeps,
Then let light be broken by a single breath,
But alas here is dream time come pick me up,
No longer shall I linger on a flicker of light,
A light shown by a single candle,
But dream time lets me have one last look,
At my protector from darkness,
My savior who never fails to show,
Who stands there in wait for his moment of glory,
I would thank but no ears would receive,
I could listen but in its vow of silence I would hear nothing,
Nothing but the sounds of the night,
When it was lit it seemed so lively,
Dancing on top of the mound of wax,
Now it seems lost like a girl on a boat at the strike of midnight,
Pale and lost,
