Little Sister
I am not my own
 “Little sister” they call me,
 But they say it
 as if it means
 “Little failure,
You’ll never be as good as her,
 All that you are
 is little sister “

 I am not my own
 Will I always stand
 in your shadow?
 Will they ever know
 who I am?
 Or am I stuck,
 like an icicle
 to your icy shadow

 I am not my own
 Although
 mom tells me we’re different
 I don’t see it
 How can I be unique
 if all anyone sees
 is you?

 I am not my own
 but I’m not yours either
 and one day,
 dear sister,
 You won’t own me
 and I will melt
 from winters’ shadow
 and become
 not little sister
 but person
 instead
