Winter
Leaves fall to the ground,
Brown and crumpled they carpet the floor,
Each one gives up its last breathe as it dies.
I hear these sighs, these moans of the forest
As we head into winter.
Even with the beauty of fall colors
You can’t help but see the sadness.
Snow comes to try and brighten up the land
But the glimmering white cannot cover the fields of green.
Each year the meadows and the forests
Must say goodbye to the beautiful green,
And try to embrace the harsh browns.
The stark contrasts of sky and land
Become the prominent features of our world.
Winter is here.
