The Title of This Poem Is: E-
I feel like I’m being put on a shelf
Like theres something you can only get from me
That you want
But only when you want it
And only then am I visible.
I feel as if I evaporate
Monday through Thursday
And Friday through Sunday I exist in your eyes
Because all I’m good for is an outlet
An outlet of affections you keep displacing
I’m aware of your during-the-week girl
I’m aware I’m your weekend-only girl
And you treat me like I’m oblivious and ignorant
To my surroundings, but I pay attention.
You didn’t stop by on Friday, so I waited
You were absent on Saturday, so I waited
And on Sunday, when you never arrived
This feeling in my stomach arose
As if to tell me that I was no longer the weekend-only
I was now the never-ever
And you had found an all-the-time
That I would never-ever be.
As much as I hated being the weekend-only girl
It was a tinge better
Than being a never-ever girl
Because when I was the weekend-only
At least I had a place
And now that I’m the never-ever
You’ve left me to get dusty
On that godforsaken shelf.
