The sky envelopes into a blackened disarray as if stirring the night,
it takes everything I have not to run and hide.
I found a safe place from the fright,
but I still need someone to confide.

Flashes of light spark from above as I curl up,
I think back to happier times when life was fine.
I think of the memories we had shared
when you were still mine.

Angry roars bellow down like battle cries,
but the war has just begun.
The shouting, the blood; it’s just too much
can’t you see they’ve already won.

As the inundation of depravation rains down
I cannot be found.
I will not wait this storm out,
when the light shines down I won’t be around.
