dancing their way across paperback novels.
But for the explosion of crystallized
stones encasing those colors,
wanting to keep the beauty as a treasure trove-
lock it away for a rainy day.

And as hollow notes sounding from
black and white piano keys
echo down empty, grey hallways,
clutch those colors tight to your chest
and let them spill out over your skin.
Remember the days of waking up without worry.
Remember the days spent under electric skies.
Just remember.

I find solace in paperback novels
with dust pressed into the creases.
And monochromatic piano keys are where
my hands will find their final resting place.
But my eyes will forever be turned on you,
illuminated by rainbow reflections and crystallized colors.
