The pale-faced one decided to smile tonight.
It was only a crescent, but she did it.
I had forgotten what she looked like
When she grins.
When I saw her last, her mouth was gaping
And brilliant
And bright
And I couldn’t just stare in secret
For she could see me.
But when she offers but a glimpse,
Like tonight,
I can stare in solitude,
Knowing she will be gone soon
