What Lies Ahead

Stars hung delicately amongst the trees, frosting the water in silver designs.
My thoughts
take me to an empty dome.
A glass dome, so as to gaze upon
the stars.
The silence becomes prominent, louder than thunder. Why?
The thoughts are not there.
I speak of tomorrow. But
will there
BE a tomorrow? All that seems present is darkness.
Darkness...and chains.
Rusted and long, thick chains.
Causing a struggle...
locked to the past. I discover
there is no key.
