Dreams Are Short So Write Them Down
You said goodnight, but meant goodbye
So I fell asleep and forgot for a while
But in my dreams I never did spy
Those I’ve loved and lost in my life

And when I awoke I thought I was blind
For in the darkness I looked about
Yet nothing but black I ever did find
Nothing but fear and nothing but doubt

So I ran from the room and fled from the door
In hopes to see you upon my step
Then I screamed to find you weren’t there anymore
And I screamed to find there was nothing left

Then I leapt from the house and called down the road
For help and guidance, the sun from above
Yet on the ground, in the darkness, was written the code
To guide me to the ones I love

Don’t follow the darkness, go back to the light
Don’t stay here and wonder what cannot become
The loveless, the demons await you tonight
So go, go for cover back where you came from

So I grasped what was left of my pitiful run
And I sprinted back in, as scared as I be
For I wished and I hoped, I dreamt for the sun
And I wished and I hoped that the sun dreamt for me

Then I jumped in my bed, my eyes halfway closed
As I tried waking up from this nightmare I’m in
I was thinking to myself ‘til the feeling arose
And I realized at some point reality begins
