against the sun that shimmers
the moon aglow with light
the stars mere flecks across
the violet morning skies
against the dancing grass
damp and cold with dew
the playful breeze that plays
a music,i once knew
against the great round pond
with jaded,rippling water
the lily afloat its perch
a forgotten face,i searched
against the broken earth
the pebbled,weathered walk
i see a nestled place
that once i called my rock
against the shaded walls
that block out all that light
i breathe a sigh of joy
forget; and feel respite

this is about a person i know. said person has employed the Scarlett O'Hara belief to life...."I'll think on it tomorrow"to forget, you see, is so much easier than to live with the knowledge of truth. its enough to gnaw at your gut and cause cold shivers down your back.i understand only too well, and have portrayed this person as i imagine him.
