Ramen noodles
And you take the peas out
One by one
And the light sneaks in
Through the fractured windows
And your nostrils are hit with the stench
Of Fossil fuels and week-old beer

Your mint chip Frappuccino
Reminds you of how much you miss her
And her coffee-swirled hair
And her dimples
And how you fell into it
Like a daydream
Or a fever

But I kick back
Throw on some headphones
Play my favorite oldies
NOW That’s What I Call Music
Volume 31
Now that’s what I call music

The girl across the room
Catches me smiling
I try to hide it
Didn’t work
Now I’m blushing
Now she’s blushing

And now it’s our first anniversary
Saint Valentine
And I thought that Ghirardelli
Would make her smile
But it didn’t
All I see is her bloodshot eyes
Because chocolate
Was the last gift her daddy ever gave her
