A blossom in a graveyard,
with love everlasting,
A white rose because of your hidden, but remarkable affection.
An influence of good character to me.

A root in the ground,
with a caring correction,
Like a thorn at times, but only to look after me.
A way of life and provision.

The light in the sky,
With aid and consistency.
Just as the Sun
because you were there to shine on me

You taught me that even the sun goes down,
But only to rise again.
You spoke to me as would the rain,
So your words grew on me from within
And I knew even though our time could never run out,
We all must stop, to start again.

Now, you have withered away, pulled out, flickered and died.
As the days go by, I know you are still by my side
to watch my life and see me bloom,
make my root and shine my light.

I wrote this piece in remembrance of my Grandparents who both died when I was 10. I wanted to let people see that death and loss is not always a bad thing and to remember the good that you had with those loved ones who are no longer here.

The more control you have over yourself, the less control others have over you.

Wow! Great job! I am so happy to see a different perspective on death, I love how you turned a tragedy into something so lovely and airy. To be honest, I don't really care to read non-rhyming poems, but I loved this, even the fact that the beginning does not rhyme, which brings me to another part that I love.. it's so special how at first it doesn't rhyme and then it starts rhyming and flowing so gracefully. The wording in here is amazing! This vividly paints a sweet and sorrow picture for me. This was lovely. You made death look pretty and that's difficult. I'd love to read more of your work, let me know when more is up, please!
