I am from
a small town,
a place of red dirt roads,
a place where everyone knows everyone,
a place of constant hellos and Y'all's.
I am from
a military base,
a place where they train special ops,
a place of P.T. alarms going off at 6 am.
I am from
a European country,
a place where I can't understand the language,
a place of fences around the base,
a place of acceptance of Americans.
I am from
the Chesapeake bay,
a place visiting D.C. every summer,
a place where I could hear "FWEEEE" of bomb testing
near school,
a place of meeting people from different countries.
I am from
a place of tornados,
a place of country music,
a place of constant southern accents.
I am from
a place of 10,000 lakes,
a place of freezing winters,
and frozen lakes,
a place of "Ooft-Das" and the word "pop"
When asked where I am from
I answer
I am from everywhere,
and nowhere.
