Life and Death of Jay Gatsby
There’s a party tonight
Whose party?
Jay Gatsby’s party
Who’s Jay Gatsby?
No one really knows
Whose party is it again?
His lifestyle is new
Like an egg just hatched
His history is vast
Many different lives as one
His journey is tainted
Stained like red wine on a white rug
I observe
With awe and amazement
I observe
The scandal and the lies
I observe
His love and his loss
He hopes always looking out at the green
Waiting for their history to return
She regrets not waiting
Left when he was nothing and wants him now that he’s gold
She couldn’t decide what life she wanted, but eventually chose
He saved her from death and she didn’t care
No one looks beyond the secrets
But I do
No one sees the love
But I do
No one sees the sacrifice
But I do
There’s a funeral today
Whose funeral?
Jay Gatsby’s funeral
Who’s Jay Gatsby?
No one really knows
Whose funeral is it again?
