Irresistible Darkness

A scent like sweet,
Burning sweet,
Rises in the crowded pushy pavement sidewalk.
Musky scent of roasting chestnuts
With undertones of dancing cotton candy
Confuses me with its celebration
In an activity as sinister as this dance of possession.
Resounding deep and dark and heavy
Overpowering and taking control quickly.
I am undecided.
I am infatuated or disgusted.
It is alive
and suffocating me with a smile.
A deep inhale
And its sugary depths enthrall me again
And ask me to want it more.
