Ablaze
The sky was bright
No clouds in sight
Exuding a warmth that could only be
At a certain time of day –
Helios was here
But no – it was Phaeton, the god’s son
The chariot dragged
Scorched everything in sight
The world was on fire
People’s cries could be heard
Anywhere in the world
During that fatal moment
The ground howled
The sky screamed
Mercy didn’t come
The fire was relentless,
Consuming everything in its path
Showing no signs of stopping
Earth was dying
Earth was Ablaze
