In The Crannies of the Mind
Fears and regrets
Whisper in my ear,
Settle as dust,
Cover untouched surfaces and gather slowly
Until one day
They are swept by a curious finger
Joined to make a small length of fluff
That is soft and coffin-wood grainy;
The forgotten shroud wrapped around wishes that will never see daylight
Is gathered with a pinch,
And thrown out of its resting place
A corpse of faded memory.
