You all look so content,
With your 8th grade lives,
But how many of you young teens,
Are really living lies?
How many are afraid to go home,
Begging “Daddy, don’t hit me!”
Or “Mama, quit popping pills,
‘Cause you're getting increasingly weary.”
How many run away at night,
Find friends and smoke to get high?
How many sport a vivacious mask,
Only to return to home and cry?
How many girls don’t eat,
Or throw up later on?
How many hide self-inflicted scars?
How many yearning to be gone?
They all appear so content,
But looks can frequently defy,
So just how many teens I see,
Are actually living a lie?
