When I was younger, I used to think that sadness was something you could get over.
Brush away, never think of it again, and simply forget
Everything that was
And move on.
Now I know
That true sadness
Isn’t the sobbing tantrums that
Isn’t the shaking tiredness that you feel afterwards
It isn’t even the blazing anger that you feel inside and let tear out to knock down other people.
True sadness
Is the hollow emptiness
The silent tears that form waterfalls down you’re cheeks
And the deep, weary gazes of those you are closest to
That hurt the most.
