Crushing Pain
I heard my door open

I saw my mom slowly enter my room
Like something was holding her back
The look on her face said it all
She opened her mouth to speak
But I already knew the words that were going to come out
 They were already crushing me
Ripping the tears from my eyes
Making it impossible to breathe normally
Those words were breaking my heart
And they hadn’t even been said yet
She looked her red, bloodshot, puffy eyes into mine
And whispered trying to keep her face calm
 “He died this morning”

That was when I couldn’t hold the pain in anymore
It crushed me from the inside out
It made me fold into a ball of heartache and pain
It made me hurt in a way I’ve never hurt before

My heart was shattered into a thousand sharp, stabbing pieces
And it will never be the same again
