My own experience is that once a story has been written, one has to cross out the beginning and the end. It is there that we authors do most of our lying.
- Anton Chekhov

You ask me
What do you want for Christmas
I've finally figured out what that is
I want the bright light
I want the joy of watching everyone
Gather around for the brightest time of the year
I want to feel the warmth and
See the glows of everyone’s faces as things
Are passed around
I want you to feel the warm and fuzzy feeling
That has gathered in my heart
Throughout my fifteen years

I’ve learned what everyone
Talks about in the old movies
I’ve felt what Christmas is about; I’ve learned
About how the world has been sculpted
How bad things have corrupted hearts that were once
The best ones of all
Everyone seeks out the bad in life, but
I don’t need to because I have you all

Gathering here on this night
I want you to know
That I don’t want anything, but this one
Christmas wish
I want you to take this in
To feel what I feel
Everyday seeing the wonderful
Family I have been blessed with
So take this Christmas wish in
And mark it down on Santa’s list
My Christmas Wish

The author's comments:
Truthfully I wrote this piece thinking about what I wanted for Christmas, but then got to thinking that I never really want anything for Christmas, to me the best part about Christmas is that you get to spend your time with the people you love the most. I wrote this piece showing off my inspiration, my family. This truly comes from the heart as I realize how much I've been blessed. This is to everyone that has no idea on what they want.
