Reclaim
Black
Dark nothingness
Ominous, unknown, and
Mysterious
No wonder we cannot
Love our selves
We are taught to be
Afraid of who we are
Doubting our abilities
Because we are unable to see
Past our supposed iniquities
Dark
Smooth chocolate
That swallows the eyes of
A lover
Silky, edible, comforting
Skin that cradles a generation
That does not know it’s beautiful yet
Allowing a third party to dictate
Our aspirations
We are the future. We do not answer
To those who have an illusion of power
Our strength folds, seals, and sends their
Falsified assumptions away like
A letter in a bottle
Africa yielded its fruit
Yet we were robbed
It is now time to take
Back what was rightfully ours
Life, liberty, and being
Black
