Cashmere
Sweet cashmere
 Kindly coated in time
 Frozen dream of 1963
How you bathe me in memory
 The little girl
 That stood before this mirror
Professed her love for the land
 The same land
That I had traced so amply with yearning fingers
A reflection of my own childhood
 The girl in pink cashmere
 Said goodbye
To the way the foothills kissed the sky
And became a part of the wall
 Between which I existed
 And collected powder room souvenirs
 Nona’s lavish soap treasures
And doll-sized volumes of prayers and poetry
 She was there all along
Waiting for me to find her
Waiting for me to find myself
