Soul City
I've spent hours out on my back porch on summer nights
With that view, could have sold my soul to the city lights
The sunset saw it as well
Was cast under its luminous spell
And never looked back at the dark it knew so well
Traveling down the crowded city street
I see people crying, begging for things to eat
And through my teary eye
And the smoggy, starless sky
My dream, destroyed, upon that hill would dwell
