On Power and Ambition
Power corrupts,
Obviously.
You see,
It makes those with it gods,
And those without it ants.
It makes and breaks the rules.
Power is a strong wind; those who face it are either reeds that bend or oaks that break.
Those fighting power without their own are fools,
As if fighting a fierce beast, a man without tools.
Those who seek it
Will be potent.
But think themselves gods, never.
Always there will be something they can’t do, forever.
Something they will crave to do,
So that they may be masters of all they see
And all who within their sight be
Subjects of their reality.
