Telephone Lines
vacant eyes
boring holes through peeling tint
pin drop silence
a knife slicing calm
contours divide the sky
into murky cerulean sections
perpetual roller-coaster edges
on stilts
dimensions unending
they tingle with conversation
chit-chatting their way across
a hazy expanse
with a hurried haste
rivaling that of my mind
in sheer contrast to our stagnant words-
we trudge through the depths
of unmentioned hurts
that slip through sidewalk cracks
like weeds
creeping into the car
and into each other's minds
I long for the words in those telephone lines
