The Taste of Rejection
Staying up late
No one’s with you
But you just can’t stop bawling
In fear that they will leave you again
They act like they hate you
You toss and turn in your bed
Never feeling comfortable
That you have to wake up again
That you can live another day
My pernicious friend rejection,
We meet again
After countless times
That they replaced me
With a better person
And I keep living alone
You leave your stench on my clothes to smell
You leave your rot in my mouth to taste
You leave your disharmonies to hear
You leave your scandal to see
You leave your sandpaper to touch
I’m hallucinating
I’m being driven mad
By the scars you left on me,
Some still open wounds
If you dump your noisomeness on me
Do you still have more to spare?
Put it all on me
Every stench
Every rot
Every pitchy song
Every scandal
Every bleeding fingertip
So I can keep it from you
So they can be spared the taste of rejection.
