Ocean of Depression
I am drowning in the Ocean of Depression
While the people on land do nothing to help
 “Smile!” they say
 “Be happy!”
“You are sad too much. It’s getting annoying.”

 My instincts say swim
But my body has forgotten how

My mind makes my situation worse
“Why are you so weak?” it says
 “You are such an idiot!”
“No one cares about you! They are sick of your problems!”
“You are a burden on everyone!”
“Your dad would be disappointed in who you have become!”
 “You are worthless!”
 The mental abuse never ends

My chest feels like a weight making me sink
I have no desire to attempt swimming anymore
 But I know I must
