TO HIM
Its dark.
The only light comes from the little TV screen.
I can just barely make out his silhouette.
Its cold.
I’m shaking
Shaking feverishly
Shaking nervously.
There’s a blanket
Draped over our legs,
Criss-crossed
Like pretzels.
I feel like I’m in preschool.
I feel young and foolish
I feel stupid.
I feel you grab my hand.
I feel you lean back into me
Your body warm,
Mine still shaking.
Your fingers tremble
To the same beat as mine
I think that means are hearts
On beating on time
To the same beat
Beating.
I begin to feel your breath
Warming my cheek
Warming all of me
You’re close.
Closer than I expected.
I catch you staring
Blatantly at my lips.
I took that as a sign.
Leaning in.
We both lean in
Our foreheads meet in the middle.
Staring
Hesitating
Turn
Tilt
Kiss
The end.
