Shadowed Silhouettes
The thunder boomed outside that night
That night
With empty darkness
Nobody left to crawl in it
But me
And the shadowed silhouettes
Reflected on ebony marble.
They were watching me that night
Those silhouettes of nothing
They sang to me
Melodies
As flickering
As twisted
As ghosts
They sang
Melodies that crept into the thunder
Slow
but frightening
Melodies that crept into my soul
That sent a chill across my skin
Melodies that etched themselves
Into my brain
Never letting me forget
Repeating
Over
And over
And over
Until
I am just another
Silhouette
