The best kind of day for me
Is being able to stay in bed all day
Because this is the only time when I’m not busy working
And have enough time to think of us
And all that we've been through
I know that it seems like the day has been dimming
But trust me when I tell you this
I’m trying, I really am
And when the night takes its visit
Know that you’re not alone, that I’m right there
With you
Even though we’re miles apart
My thoughts about you, and my feelings for you
Stretch longer than the circumference of the earth
And at some point during the day, I’d like to think that you are there too
Sending me your thoughts and feelings through all this distance
Because thinking you are, takes away the cold from the night and the loneliness that comes with it
So trust me when I tell you this
I’m trying, I really am

The author's comments:
Often times when faced with distance, relationships, whether it be with a significant other or friendship, begins to weaken. My own experiences with this obstacle has inspired me to write this poem in hopes that others can relate to it, and know that although distance can intercept with our bonds, it's a barrier that can be overcome through dedication, support, love, communication and understanding.
