This Is War
Like watching
a horror movie
but when you tell yourself,
“It’s not real,”
you are lying.
Like a play
with fancy uniforms
and special roles,
but it’s not an act.
Like playing a video game
without second chances
or winners,
it ends with you dead
or dying.
Like standing by a cliff
you can’t leave,
waiting for a breeze
to send you over.
You don’t say
“You First,”
Or “I’m sorry,”
You just keep going, because
This is war.
