It emerges from the great mountain.
Unaware, unsuspecting.
The desert sand is hot.
A beam of light sears through the sky.
It feels only the scorch of thin skin
And then nothing.
A boy rises from the sidewalk
In silent triumph
And runs to the house for dinner.
He leaves the glass to burn.
