who knew that everything
that hurts you could be
the one thing that takes it all away

who knew that the ache to feel
could be the cause
of all your cuts and bruises

who knew that the blood
trickling down your arm
would melt away everything that haunts you

who knew that it would taste
slightly of a familiar embrace
bleeding from your own wrists
