Beneath the Smile

Behind this big grin
and laugh
is pain still fresh
in my heart,
all kinds of pain.
Some has healed and
been forgotten.
Some,still sits in my mind,
trying to tear me down.
Some days,
it wins and I break down.
But I win most of the time.
Each and everyday
the pain lessens and
starts weakening.
But it’s never going to leave me.
Sometimes I get a day
to forget the pain
and I cherish those moments.
