Rulers
Maybe I'm just the patchwork girl
The Peter Pan of peculiarity
Strung together with bits and pieces
Of rusted charm
With holes in my smile
In the shape of unspoken words
And maybe you're just a zombie
Shocked back to life
And still stumbling round the stage
Defilbulater in hand
Watching everyone
With eyes hungry for applause
Both of us just searching
For some sure way to live
We grasp at ideas of infinity
And call ourselves conquerors of love
Just to feel like we are in control of our destinies
But how Fate must laugh
As she gives our cage a cruel shake
And sends us sprawling.
Little rulers of the glass cage
