The True Me
June 30, 2014
Although people say there is beauty in me I see only darkness,
Even though people say everyone has a little darkness I see only brightness.
I don’t know why but it seems everyone is good but me.
I try as hard as I can for people to see the true me,
But all people see is black.
They say I’m lonely,
Or a friendless freak.
I can’t help but think they’re right.
They say I’m a social loser,
Or a mindless writer.
I spend my days and nights reading and writing.
So it seems they are right,
Or at least semi-right.

I love the tug-of-war between what other people think of you and what you think of yourself. I would have liked if you talked about yourself in a insecure way, then change it to all the positive things about yourself though. I would like to see a part two of this when you become light instead of black.

This is a thoughtfull piece.
I don't know what to say except i feel like you're reading my mind, I can relate to this so much. I started feeling sorry for myself but now that i read your poem i know I'm not alone and it's kind of a relief. Thank you so much for sharing this Masterpiece!! ;)
