The So-Called Truth
I come home awaiting the verdict,
Hastily opening my computer
I log onto Instagram,
Checking my latest post
A picture of my dog and I.
There it is
The hate.
You have no friends!
Screams one faceless, unknown username.
You’re a loser!
Another yells.
All the terrible comments,
Arrows being shot
Ambushing me,
Each one embedding itself deep in my heart.
My peers and so called friends
Have written these.
I think
Why would they lie?
Maybe they aren’t.
Are all these things true?
Am I a loser?
I must be,
Why else would they say I am.
After seeing the same thing
Over and over again,
I have finally accepted
That it must be
The truth.
