burning string
your promises unfurled like a string on a sweater;
you kept pulling and pulling and eventually handed me a pile of yarn.
i’m lost like that paper you shoved in the bottom of your backpack,
i felt your hands for the last time when you crafted me into a paper airplane
and threw me off the empire state.
i'm always falling because of you; stop it.
now i'm turning into ash because i look up and see you holding her waist as she uses binoculars to watch me cascade.
