That smile you wear is only pain in disquise,

You hang your head low with tears in your eyes.

You hide your face; you don't want people to see,

The pain in those tears;

The pain caused by me.

You wish to take back all that you had,

And you want to be happy,

But instead you are sad.

You say you arent hurting,

But how would we know?

Because the smile you wear is only pain in disquise.

The author's comments:

I hope that people come to understand how the people they hurt actually feel, even though you may see a smile on that person's face.

The emotion you showed in this is apparent. The simplicity of it is what really struck me. Please continue to write. I would love to read more work.

Jonah, this poem was beautiful! The rhyme gave it a nice musical and rythmic sound. The only critique I have for you is a simple spelling mistake. You spelled disguise with a 'q' instead of a 'g.' But other than that, you did a wonderful job on this!! And I definitely agree...if people knew how much pain they caused the people that they hurt, maybe they wouldn't hurt others as much.
